Best of IWT: Dominate with my word-for-word scripts

Today is the first of a 4-part series spotlighting some of the best material on IWT.

Today’s focus: My tested, word-for-word scripts that you can use to instantly save hundreds of dollars, negotiate thousands, and my personal favorite, improve responses at bars.

I love scripts because they make it mindlessly easy for you to get started. No thinking required — simply read off the words and you’ll likely find terrific results, thanks to thousands of other people testing multiple variations of scripts that I develop.

I love when people tell you to do highly sophisticated things, like “Just act confident!” or “Just negotiate with your boss!” The average person looks up, confused, scratching their head with half an egg hanging out of their mouth. “Ya ok sure” they say.

Instead, use the actual scripts that have generated massive results for tens of thousands of IWT readers — in saving money, earning money, and improving your social skills.

Optimize your cellphone bill
“Many of us (including me) pick a cellphone plan, then never check to see if it’s the right one for us based on our usage. Because the average cellphone bill is about $50, that’s $600 per year of money you can optimize. Perfect.”

How to negotiate your car insurance down
“This is Tip #13 of the Save $1,000 in 30 Days Challenge. Today’s tip is to negotiate your car insurance. Most of us pick a rate once, then never go back again. But if you do, you can save hundreds of dollars each year.”

Here’s how I negotiated out of bank fees — part 2
“Here’s how I negotiated out of a $20 overdraft fee and a $27.10 finance charge from Wells Fargo.” (See part 1 here.)

How to use Natural Networking to connect with anyone — including the exact email scripts
“You now have both the tactics (the email scripts) as well as a strategic approach (narrowing down your networking, focusing on helping others, and understanding the power dynamic). All in one day.”

How to Email Virtual Assistants (or Any Assistants): Proven Templates
(Guest post on Tim Ferriss’ site.)
“Because I’m a huge weirdo about time management, I’ve spent over 65 hours optimizing my emails to VAs. Here are three examples of emails that get you answers in one round. After reading the templates below, you’ll be able to write a crisp one-and-done email that gets you results — the first time. I’ve used these techniques to recover those 65 hours in 3 months and cut back-and-forth emails with my VA by over 80%.”

On Refusing to Disclose Your Salary in a Job Interview
(Featured in New York Times)
“You don’t have to reveal your salary information,” said Ramit Sethi, author of “I Will Teach You to Be Rich” and the popular blog of the same name. “You’re under no obligation to reveal it at all. So how should you handle the question? Mr. Sethi shared his recommended script and tips with us.”

I also collect hundreds of proven scripts from successful students of mine in the Earn1K and Dream Job vaults. Like my student Oleg, who used an email script to make thousands of dollars.

If you like this, share the love. Click to Tweet: “Damn I love @ramit’s word-for-word scripts (see best ones here): ”

Social Proof: I have lowered my Discover Card rate twice and currently I have 0% on new purchases till Oct, at my request. I have a time scheduled in January to remind me to call about lowering the rate again. I autopay so there is never a “late fee” and it is one less thing for me to think about.

I use credit cards for airlines miles. I usually forget to make a payment at least once a year. I’m 3/3 on calling to request that the late fee be removed. Perfect credit. Ask and you shall receive.

Great wrap-up: as someone relatively new to the site, it’s nice to see these categorised/used as a reminder. Getting a loyalty discount for multiple products can also work well for mobile phones (I have my phone + internet with Virgin and they give me a discount on both). Keep ’em coming!

Looks like great info, but the page redirects me to another page of commercials…what gives?

Got a credit card late fee waived by using a variation of your script. Thanks!

First of all,Penelope, your writing gives the imspsreion that you are about 15 years old. I cant imagine you having a professional writing job. I find it very humorous how many times you contradict yourself in that whole tirade about not being able to make money blogging. It seems that you are doing just that. I bet it would really suck for you if we all just went away. Then you wouldn’t be able to brag about your big contracts with Online advertisers like Federated Media. Maybe you should just stick to flipping burgers. I wonder what Federated Media would… Read more »

Wham bam thank you, ma’am, my questions are answered!
I am working on this! I find my meals are generally pretty balanced, but my snacks tend not to be so much. Even healthy snacks like a piece of fruit don’t do much for my hunger if I don’t add some protein or fat (preferably both!). My major snacking time is between lunch and dinner, and it is particularly bad days when I’m not sure when I’ll be able to get home for dinner – I find myself having 3 snacks! Got to work on that! I’ve been eating a greek yogurt everyday but am starting to get sick of… Read more »

Ta notka to obrzydliwa i głupia manipulacja. Obrzydliwe.A zestawienie zdjęć typowe dla leminga żyjącego telewizyjnym matrixem.

… this gets me thinking about my wireless security habits in general. I got Matt’s suggestion above about SOCKS4 proxies and that works. Is there a similar, system preference-level setting I can use to secure my surfing in Safari?

YUM ! thank you so much for sharing how to make these… I love petit fores and now I know an easy way to make them. happy pink Saturday !
