I vote for the “Figuring Out” category, specifically:

- 529 Plans and Coverdell ESAs (especially for not-yet-conceived kids, keeping in mind the potential gift tax consequences of changing the beneficiary later)

- HSA Plans (especially for those of us who want to take advantage of the March 15 FSA deadline extension, keeping in mind that there are limitations that prevent someone from getting the full advantages of both accounts at the same time)

The most interesting thing I’d like to know are your key tips to building an online business empire. From marketing, to monetizing I think it would be fascinating stuff.

I don’t think I can read another post from the community about spending less than one earns, or debt snowballing

Tax prep advice would be MUCH appreciated. I began 2009 as a college senior working two part-time jobs and dependent on my parents, and I’m ending 2009 as an independent salaried diva living abroad and doing taxes for the first time without my parents’ help. I’ll probably get a CPA to help, but I want to start preparing some good questions to ask him/her.

I’m on step two of the first chapter of your book. I’m comparing credit cards but before that I apply for anything, should I get rid of a retail card I got last year (paid off the only purchase immediately and never used it since.) There’s no annual fee, I think. Not sure how that would affect my credit. Does it matter?

Hey Ramit, thanks for the link. I’ve actually read and love the article, simple but useful advice on writing great stuff for yourself and others. Focus on the big wins rather than debating and tweaking non-essential stuff like SEO, design, etc.

What about a conscious spending plan through the holidays?

Things that always seem to cost more than predicted for me are travel, gifts, and a general lack of discipline around the busy, high-spending months.

I would enjoy any thoughts on how to stay conscious about spending on into the new year.

I’d like to learn good record keeping for all of these wonderful financial tools (automating++). Franklin Covey makes some really great tools for keeping track of a variety of subjects http://search.franklinplanner.com/?q=.doc&sp_sr=rank and it would be really great to have something that is tailored to keeping track of different automated accounts, timeline for checking on things/re-evaluating certain financial aspects.
