Well done. Very clean, simple, and effective. I am definitely all about clean and usable design. The only suggestion I would have is concerning the content you are placing at the bottom of the screen. It is going to take a lot of scrolling to make it all the way down there. I understand it’s secondary content to what is above but it seems awkward and detached down there? Just a thought…Your design is setting the standard for other personal finance blogs. Why no blogroll if you don’t mind me asking? I would be curious what other blogs you read…

Not to be the devil’s advocate or anything, but something about the date and comments link placement directly under the title seems to make it appear cluttered (am I the only one?).

I’d love to draw up a little concept / sketch of what I’d do to it, if you’d like.

Overall, the look is a welcome change, and gives the website a serious, profound look.

I suggest an outter bg. It’s all white, white on white. Looks bad, change the outter bg to something else. Light grey like yuo have right now would work, itll put your site and content more in focus.

Coding wise, the new site gets an A+! Minus the © symbol that is.

As for design, since you’ve done a great job integrating a more user friendly archive and search method, I think you could stand to lose the length of the page.
In the sandbox you have about a month’s worth of entries. That’s A LOT! True, it is only 10 posts, but dude, your posts are loooooong. They’re good… superb even, but still long. You should probably limit the frontpage to having only the past week’s worth of entries. Cutting down on the scrolling is always courteous and it’ll make the footer content more accessible.

And personally, I really like the look of the footer. It would be a shame to see it go and have the content incorporated into the sidebar.

Goodness…I’m glad you are making this new design happen because your site REALLY needed it.

Not only is too much scrolling bad in general, but if you put important content on the bottom of the page (you must scroll all the way down to see it), not a lot of people will see it.

DM: Maybe if you read the note you would realize that he says he gets plenty of spam. And the captchas out for wordpress suck and probably have all been broken since this blog platform is so large.

Sorry for multiple comments, but why do you do this approval process with comments, why not just have a captcha plug-in installed?
