I use newsletter to make fun of girl with funny results

Ramit Sethi · April 20th, 2006

This is funny. I sent out my latest newsletter a couple of days ago (to learn more and sign up, click here).

Anyway, in one section I wrote, I was talking about weirdos who come up to me in random places and complain that I never send out my newsletter.

I don’t know what this means, but recently I have been running into a lot of crazy people who apparently read my blog and they all say the same thing: “YOU HAVEN’T SENT A NEWSLETTER OUT IN A LONG TIME!!!!” Last weekend in SF, a girl came up to me at a club saying exactly this. So if you are reading this, crazy girl, here you go.

Also, I’ll try to send these out more than once every 4 months, heh.

Then, 2 MINUTES LATER, I got a Facebook message:

Subject: crazy girl from sf club

Hi Ramit,
The crazy girl from the sf club is named [name]!!!

Only in this wonderful age could I make fun of a crazy girl through my newsletter, which is based around my blog, and get a response through Facebook–all in 2 minutes. THANK YOU INTERNET!!!!!!!!

  1. Is she hot?

  2. And hence my departure from facebook… peace out stalkers…

  3. You should totally ask her out.

  4. We’re still waiting for the answer to Joo’s very important question.

  5. Jared Goralnick

Why do all things have to revolve around facebook? She got an EMAIL newsletter from you and she had to write back through facebook? Is that a rather indirect route or is it just me?

  6. Kirubakaran

she seems to have her mind set! all the best and good luck 🙂

btw, “crazy girl” is not offensive as it has scope for “yeah i’m crazy about u…” kinda stuff. try “mad girl” or “lunatic lady” if thats what you meant :-)) (just kidding… enjoy!)

  7. I’m not sure if I missed something, but don’t you think it’s kind of offensive to refer to one of your readers as “weirdos”, “crazy people”, & “crazy girl”?

  8. Ramit Sethi

Uh, yeah.. maybe you missed my sense of humor from the last 2 years of this blog?

  9. Jonezez

You know you’re livin large when some crazy girl can recognize you based on your rectangular picture of your eyes + glasses! Hot or not, that’s a great story and you should tell everyone that she was Ashwariya Rai hot (just like a fisherman’s story)

  10. He said she contacted him on FaceBook so I would image she saw his full body picture there!
