If you can only pick one thing to focus on, writing great content must be number one on your list.

On my community blog we encourage our writers to focus on their writing and not worry about their daily stats.

(in fact, I think I’ve linked to this post in our internal forum).

We believe so much in “content first” that our blog recruited specific people to take care of the technical, SEO, marketing, and monetizing duties so our writers don’t have to worry about any of that stuff.

This system works because you have writers and marketers and tech guys doing what they do best.

All that SEO and technical stuff are important. But having the writers worry about that instead of writing is like asking the pilot to serve drinks to the passengers.
